Pilgrimage to Chartres 2013

The Chartres pilgrimage is over for another year.

As always, our pilgrimage began in Paris on Friday.
This year we had the Holy Mass at the Church of St. Séverin in the afternoon followed by Benediction and evening prayer at the Irish College. Our chaplain Fr. Cahill was unable to join us but he was with us in spirit as we journeyed towards Chartres. We were blessed to have Fr. Gabriel Burke waking with our chapter as chaplain this year.

We had a small but wonderful group of 18 pilgrims, who sang, prayed and remained cheerful in spite of the torrential rain that accompanied us on our pilgrimage. This year meditations were focused on the theme of education. The patron saints for each day were St. Don Bosco, St. Jean Baptise de la Salle, and Ss. Joachim and Anne.

Thank you to all who prayed for us during the three days.

The dates for the next pilgrimage are: June 7-9 2014

Chartres sonne, Chartres t'appelle!
Gloire, honneur au Chritst-Roy!

Anyone who would like a copy of the meditations can email Katie: here

Bon Voyage...

I would like to wish all the members of St. Patrick's Chapter a safe journey to France and a holy and successful pilgrimage this Pentecost weekend. I and all former pilgrims will be with you in spirit.
A droite!

Novena for a successful Chartres pilgrimage

This is the Novena for a successful Chartres pilgrimage.
Many Thanks to Fr. Michael Cahill.
Recited the 9th to the 17th of May
V. O God, come to my aid,
R. Lord, make haste to help me.

V. Our help is in the Name of the Lord,
R. Who made Heaven and earth.

Glory be to the Father.....

Psalm 20.
 I lift up my eyes to the mountains:
From where shall come my help ?
My help shall come from the Lord
who made heaven and earth.

May He never allow you to stumble !
Let Him sleep not, your guard.
No, He sleeps not nor slumbers,
Israel's guard.

The Lord is your guard and your shade;
at your right side He stands.
By day the sun shall not smite you
nor the moon in the night.

The Lord will guard you from evil,
He will guard your soul.
The Lord will guard your going and coming
both now and for ever. Amen.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father,
be our support in our setting out;
 our solace on the way;
 our shelter in storms;
 our shade in the sun;
 our strength in weariness;
 our safety in danger;
send your holy angel to watch over us,
and, when the pilgrimage of life is over,
may we find safe lodging, holy rest and peace at the last in that Kingdom upon which we have set our hearts. Amen

Christ be with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ within me,
Christ below me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand,
Christ in my sleeping,
Christ in my waking,
Christ ever be ! Amen

Our Lady of Chartres!
Pray for us.
